A NEW YORK BLOOD CENTER CAMPAIGN Sponsored by Stephen Wise Free Synagogue
Several weeks ago the New York Blood Center announced its fifth blood emergency this year due to an alarming drop in blood donations. The region’s blood supply is once again at a one-to-three-day supply.
Just one pint of blood can save the lives of up to three people. With this in mind the hope is to collect at least 50 pints of blood.
The West 68th Street Block Association gladly supports our street partner in their effort. Give blood if you are able right here on West 68th Street on November 13. Help to save 150 lives!
Walk-ins are welcome, but space is limited.
VOLUNTEER
We're also looking for volunteers to help check donors in and make sure they seem healthy before they leave. Volunteer slots are 30 minutes.
Donations, on average, take 45 minutes to an hour from arrival to donating to snacks. Donors from age 16 to 76 are eligible to donate (16 year olds need their parent or guardian's consent) and anyone over 76 will need a doctor's note. For medical reasons, donors must weigh at least 110 pounds.
For questions or concerns regarding eligibility, please contact (800) 688-0900. NYBC’s Eligibility office is staffed by a Health Practitioner Monday thru Friday between 9am to 5pm. Please call prior to going to the blood drive.
For any questions, contact Steven Morris at smorris@swfs.orgor (212) 877-4050, ext. 263.
